Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Features Reviewed

The Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill is an excellent wood pellet grill and smoker to have in your home. It features smart technology, offers the best value per square inch, and much more.

Here are its features.

Heavy Duty Steel Build

The Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill is a premium crafted grill with heavy-duty steel. As such, it can achieve temperatures of 180° F to 500° F. It’s not just the body that’s made of steel. But so are the cooking racks, cooking grids, and meat probes.

Metals have cathodic and anodic areas, and corrosion usually occurs from the presence of water and oxygen. However, steel has corrosion resistance. This resistance is due to a thin layer of oxides that form on the surface. This makes the process of corrosion between metal, water, and oxygen impossible. What this means is that you can store your Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill outdoors, come rain or sunshine.

“8 in 1” Cooking Versatility

The Pit bull Laredo 1000 can be used for Grill, Smoke, Bake, Braise, Roast, Sear, Char-Grill, and Barbecuing.

“8 in 1” is what they call it, and it’s probably just to make it sound more impressive. Grilling and barbequing, for example, can be done on virtually all grills with a lid, as barbequing is just grilling at a low temperature with the lid closed. This doesn’t mean, however, that it is not impressive. Having versatility in a grill is a nice thing, and it allows you to try out new things and methods of grilling. It also comes with an entire 1006 square inches of cooking area.

It has slide plate flame broiler lever, which basically allows you to adjust the heat. You can adjust between indirect heating, where the flame broiler is closed, and direct heat where the flame broiler is opened.
You can go from slow and low heat to 1,000 degrees F direct flame.

The Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill also comes with an adjustable searing plate beneficial when you need an open flame for a nice grill effect. The searing plate is placed on the site, and is separate from the “main” grill. It’s a quick way to sear meat, as it can generate a high temperature quickly.

For nighttime grilling, the grill has built-in lighting so that you can see exactly what you’re doing.

Bluetooth and WiFi Capability

The Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. Using the SmokeiT app, you can receive live updates of set temperatures of the grill, cooking time, and more on your smartphone.

To connect your grill to your WiFi, check the SmokeiT icon on the digital control board. If it’s blinking, the grill is searching for Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity. Once your unit establishes connectivity, the SmokeiT icon will stay solid. Now what’s left is for you to download the easy-to-use app and have access to the Key Component Alert System.

This feature will alert you when your grill is running low on pellets or the auger is jammed.

Built-in Ash tray System

On the front of the Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill barrel is the ash clean-out tray. This feature allows you to clean the ashes from the firepot. To empty the unit, press down on the inner handle of the clean-out tray.

Pull out the tray by sliding it out and once you empty it, replace the tray by sliding it back into the opening on the front of the grill. Make sure it’s inserted completely. Remember, you can only clean out the ash when the grill is cool.

The Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill is 100% fueled by all-natural hardwood pellets. However, if you fail to use your grill for an extended period, run all the pellets out of your auger system. Don’t forget to clean off any debris from the fan air intake vent and wipe off any grease on the fan blades. This improves airflow to the feed system.

What We Liked and What We Didn’t

Here are some thing about the Pit Boss Laredo 1000 we liked and some things we didn’t like.

What We Liked

  • Comes with a fully digital control board
  • Easy to use and manage
  • Two stainless steel meat probes included
  • Durable and the steel won’t rust

What We Did Not Like

  • Takes long to warm up to 450 to 500 degrees F
  • You’ve to squat to undo the clean-out tray latch. This can be a problem for people with knee problems.

Final Words

The Pit Boss Laredo 1000 Wood Pellet Grill is an amazing grill and smoker to have in your home. Thanks to its 8-in-1 cooking versatility, not only can you grill and smoke. But you can also braise, bake, roast, char-grill, sear, and much more.

Besides cooking a variety of foods, the grill is easy to manage. In fact, you can do so from your smartphone. All you need to do is connect your grill to the smartphone via WiFi or Bluetooth. Then, you’ll start receiving live updates such as temperature readings and more.
